NOC Classification
Your work experience must fall under one of the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes: Home Child Care Provider or Home Support Worker. Please note that the experience cannot be a combination of both categories.
Job Duties
The work experience must align with the job descriptions outlined in the relevant NOC, and you should have performed most of the primary duties associated with that role.
Timeframe
This experience must have been accrued within the 36 months prior to submitting your permanent residence application, continuing up until you provide evidence of your work experience. You have a window of 36 months from the date your occupation-restricted open work permit was issued to submit proof of your work experience. The 6 months of experience do not need to be continuous; it can be accumulated over the specified period.
Full-Time Employment
Full-time work is defined as a minimum of 30 hours of paid work per week. Any week with less than 30 hours will not be counted towards your total. Work experience gained while you were a full-time student is not eligible. If your work experience was in Canada, it must have been obtained while authorized under a work permit, maintained status, or through a public policy. Experience from employment with a business also qualifies, but initial occupation-restricted open work permits are generally issued only with a job offer not stemming from a business. Ensure you retain all relevant documents that verify your 6 months of work experience.
